In the summer of '92, Warm Springs Rehabilitation System and Sea World San Antonio teamed up to host San Antonio's first  adaptive water ski clinic on the Sea World ski lake.  Warm Springs All Can Ski has since grown into an annual two-day extravaganza capable of skiing more than 80 people with a wide range of abilities.

The success of this event is due to a unique collaborative effort between Warm Springs, Sea World, World Entertainment Services and Texas Adaptive Aquatics.

The lake provides an ideal environment for a first-time skier with accessible entry to the water.  Participants are able to enter the water from the carpeted stage without going through sand or mud or attempting difficult transfers from a boat.

Texas Adaptive Aquatics staff outfit each participant with specialized equipment to accommodate their abilities.  First-time skiers are accompanied by a Sea World Skier trained to assist with balance and to ensure a successful experience.

Participant Comments:
  • "All Can Ski was fantastic!!!  This was my first year and I hope not my last. I'm writing this 4 days later and I'm still in the upper stratosphere!!!"  - Carina Comperlik - participant
  • "I still can't believe I did something like this, especially at my age (49).  For days after it, I'm telling all my coworkers and I sound like an excited kid!!  Indeed I feel like one! I couldn't believe such freedom on a ski." -Carina Comperlik - participant
  • "I am writing to thank you for a wonderful time at the All Can Ski event on August 22.1997.  My Daughter Jennifer participated for the first time and absolutely loved it.  I can't express how elated I felt to see her enjoying herself so much at a sport one would not normally think she could participate in."  - Linda M. Lanclos - parent
