Lending Library

We are pleased to offer a free lending library to provide tobacco and lung health educational materials to any public or private school, college, health organization or company in New Hampshire. 

The lending library is a collection of tobacco and lung health educational materials available at no cost. The library includes popular hands-on models like Lou-Wheeze Smoker’s Lungs, demonstrating both a healthy and diseased lung, the Tar Jar, filled with the amount of tar in the lungs after one year of smoking, and Mr. Gross Mouth, demonstrating the harmful effects of smokeless tobacco on the mouth. Other popular educational items are the 3D tabletop displays demonstrating the consequences of smoking and secondhand smoke, and the Tobacco Ingredients Cigarette showing the toxic ingredients in cigarette smoke in a plexiglass display.

Lending library items can be borrowed for up to one week and up to five items may be borrowed at one time. Items must be picked up and returned in person to the Breathe New Hampshire office at 145 Hollis Street, Unit C. Manchester, NH 03101. If you would like to make arrangements to have the items shipped to you at your expense, please contact our office at 603-669-2411 or email info@breathenh.org.

Bronchus Model - A four-stage cross-section of the bronchus showing the tissue changes occurring in asthma and chronic bronchitis. Includes an educational card identifying the four stages with images and descriptions of each stage. Measures 1 1/2 x 4
The Consequences of Smoking 3-D Display demonstrates the health effects of smoking. The display features 3-D models that show the diseases and conditions that can result from smoking. Measures 28” x 27” when opened. Display is contained in a portable carrying case and can be set up in seconds.
The Consequences of Secondhand Smoke3-D Display demonstrates the health effects of secondhand smoke. The display features 3-D models that show the health-related conditions associated with secondhand smoke inhalation. Measures 28” x 27” when opened. Display is contained in a portable carrying case and can be set up in seconds.
What's In Tobaccco Smoke Display demonstrates the toxic ingredients found in cigarettes. This 3-D model resembling a cigarette shows the toxic chemicals that are inside tobacco smoke. Display includes a two-sided tent card and can be used with adults or children. Measures 24 ¾” x 3 ½”.
Lou-Wheeze Smoker’s Lungs - Display demonstrates a healthy and diseased lung Interactive model with two flexible latex lungs, one showing a healthy lung and one showing a damaged lung. The attached pump inflates the healthy lung, but the diseased lung fails to inflate and deflate normally. Includes bellows pump, instructions, and carrying case. Measures 17” x 23 ½”.
Mr. Gross Mouth - This display demonstrates the effects of tobacco on mouth. This interactive model of the teeth, tongue and mouth shows the harmful effects of smokeless tobacco use. The display includes a carrying case. Measures 6” x 4” x 8”.
Tar Jar - This display shows the amount of tar in the lungs after one year of smoking. The display contains a cigarette pack and butts submerged in a year’s worth of tar. Measures 5 ¼” x 5 ½” x 3”
TB Skin Test Reaction Arm - demonstrates skin reactions to a TB test This model shows sample reactions to the Mantoux TB test. The model includes a laminated card showing each reaction with self-test for risk factors. Includes display base and carrying case

Shows the short and long term effects of smoking and nicotine addiction, reasons for remaining tobacco-free, and information on quitting smoking.

Video (Grade 7 – adult) running time: 24 minutes 
Shows the ravages of tobacco by presenting the facts in a clear and dynamic way. Helps raise awareness of the tobacco industry and the dangers of smoking.

Secondhand Smoke: A Matter of Life or Breath
DVD (grades 7-12) running time: 11 minutes
Shows the dangers of secondhand smoke and the diseases it can cause.

Empathy Lungs COPD Simulator  -  Educational Tool

This is a simulator vest and airway mask worn to show the shortness of breath associated with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and other lung diseases. To be used on a voluntary basis while under the supervision of a trained professional, this is a unique, hands-on simulator for short term use of just fifteen to thirty minutes, during which the wearer physically experiences COPD’s shallow breathing, as well as the emotional distress from the feeling of “not getting enough air".
