Quit Smoking & Vaping

You are ready to quit. Now what?

Quitting is the single best thing you can do for your health, but it isn't easy. In fact, it takes most people many tries before they are successful and quit for good. Nicotine is an addictive substance and keeps people smoking and vaping even when they want to quit. Be patient with yourself, but also be resolved to succeed. Remember your reasons for quitting.

When you quit, you will:

  • Breathe easier
  • Decrease your risk of lung disease
  • Have more money to spend on other things
  • Become a healthy role model for others
  • Feel proud that you did it

Even though you may desperately want to quit, you are more likely to succeed if you are prepared. Reward yourself and don't give up. You can do it!

Take these steps:

  • Pick your quit day and ask your family and friends for support
  • Ask your healthcare provider about products approved for tobacco cessation
  • Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1.800.784.8669) to speak with a quit coach (FREE nicotine patches, gum or lozenges available to eligible NH residents age 18 and over)
